A few years ago I wrote one of my first posts about Safari on iPad. A lot of things have changed on iOS since then so I decided to do a review and publish a complete Safari iPad tutorial updated for iOS 12.
Safari allows you to navigate the Internet and view webpages. It is the web browser App that comes installed by default with your iPad. Other popular browser Apps that you may want to consider and download are “Chrome” and “Firefox”.
What is all the fuss about iOS 12?
Which iOS do I have ?
iOS is the operating system used by the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. In the words of Wikipedia, “an operating system (OS) is a collection of software that manages computer hardware resources and provides common services for computer programs.”
Oh, yes, that makes it a lot clearer, right?
Night Shift on iPad has been updated for iOS10.
I don’t know about you but I don’t seem to be able to get enough sleep these days between work and a busy family life
In this post, I will introduce you to an App that can be useful for you at the office or when you feel creative and want to just have fun. Canva is a powerful, yet very simple to use graphic design App.
You can create presentations, posters, social media posts, photo collages and more using existing design templates or by creating new ones. You can also add images, backgrounds and text to your documents which can be downloaded to your iPad, shared by email or through social media.
The Canva App is free to download
There is a new way to listen to music on your iPad. Apple Music was launched on June 30th 2015.
What is Apple Music?
It is a music streaming service similar to Spotify.
A good analogy is to think about iTunes as your record store, while Apple Music would be like the Netflix for music. Apple users can purchase music on iTunes and then listen to their music through the Music App on iPad or iPhone. With iTunes, you own the music you play and the songs or albums are stored on your iPad, iPhone or Mac. With Apple Music, you stream music or play music remotely from Apple servers through the Internet on your devices. You pay a flat fee and can access about 30 million songs but you do not own the songs you play.
To be able to take advantage of Apple Music
A couple of years ago, I wrote a post about Music on iPad. In particular, I was referring to the Songza App. I also wrote about different Apps for Radios on iPad. In this post I will be discussing Spotify, which is a music streaming service that can be used on computers, smartphones and of course, your iPad.
Spotify gathers the best of both worlds, curated playlists for different occasions
Word for iPad Tutorial
In March 2014, Microsoft launched Office for iPad. I got very excited and went ahead and downloaded the Word App. I wanted to write a nice post about it.
Very soon my excitement completely disappeared. This new App only allowed the user to “View” Word documents. To Edit and Save documents you needed to purchase an Office 365 monthly subscription…
Towards the end of 2014, Microsoft updated the App and allowed its users to View, Edit and Create Word documents for Free.
This post has been recently reviewed (in 2017) and the current terms are 30 days free trial to view, create and edit but after 30 days, you will need an Office 365 subscription to create and edit documents.
A representative from Cometdocs contacted me recently and asked me if I would be willing to write a post about their PDF to Word App.
I downloaded the App from the App Store and realized it could be very useful to many of our readers.
What is the PDF to Word App?
In essence, as its name suggests, the App takes care of converting PDF files (*.PDF) into editable Word document files (*.docx).
According to their representative, the new .docx document generated by the App will have the same layout as the original file, but will be completely editable in Microsoft Word
How are you managing your digital purchases of Apps, books and music? How are you monitoring and organizing your kids’ digital purchases?
One game on an iPad mini, another one on an iPad Air, a song on the iPod touch… Did you lose track of your family’s digital assets yet?
iOS 8 now includes Family Sharing. A new way of sharing your Apps, iBooks and iTunes purchases among all members of your family. It is fairly easy to set up and it is a great way to have all your family’s purchases accessible on every iOS device.
But Family Sharing offers more than just sharing of your purchases. It allows you to share photos, a family Calendar
